Pet-friendly Accommodations at Historic Tapoco Lodge
Vacations don’t have to mean saying goodbye to Spot! We understand that traveling without your pets can be tricky and that it’s no fun excluding pets from the adventure. Our pet-friendly resort in Robbinsville has even been the site of a doggie wedding in the past! We are therefore happy to accommodate our furry friends in several of our rooms and will even have a little treat waiting for them in the room upon arrival. Vacations should include everyone, including the pup!
Below are all of our accommodation options that are dog-friendly. Please take a look and let our concierge know that you’ll be traveling with your pet when you book. In addition, take a look at our suggested adventures for you and your four-legged friend. North Carolina, with its lush forests and countless hikes, is perfect for bringing along your best bud.

Adventures With Fido
Bringing your bestie along for the adventure? You’re in the right place! There’s no shortage of pet-friendly activities in and around Tapoco, so your four-legged friend can enjoy the mountain magic too.
Hiking
With hundreds of miles of trails on and around the Tapoco property—and even more throughout the surrounding Great Smoky Mountains—you and your pup will have endless terrain to explore. One of our favorites? The nearby Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, home to some of the oldest and most awe-inspiring trees in the Eastern U.S. It’s a must-see for nature lovers and leashed pups alike! Just remember to bring a leash, as most trails require dogs to be leashed at all times.
ÂTapoco Tavern
After a day of exploring, head to Tapoco Tavern, where pups are welcome to join you for a meal on the dog-friendly outdoor patio. Enjoy riverside dining with your furry companion by your side—just make sure they stay leashed and well-behaved.
ÂKayaking and Water Sports
Have a water-loving dog? Lake Santeetlah is the perfect destination. Whether it’s swimming along the shore or joining you in a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard, this serene mountain lake is a haven for both humans and canines alike.
